Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Batangas is one of the oldest Catholic churches in the province. It is located in the heart of Batangas City where most schools, offices and business establishments are situated. The church was first built in 1581 under Father Diego Mojica, the Augustinian Pastor of Calapan, Mindoro.  After 179 years, the church was demolished and rebuilt through Fr. Pedro Cuesta’s effort. In 1948, Pope Pius XII granted the church the honor of Basilica.

The murals include the Ascension of Jesus to Heaven, Judgment Day, The Resurrection, Jesus with His disciples and the Immaculate of Conception in the ceiling which visible upon entering the church. Displayed as well in each pillar that supports the ceiling above the Nave is a station of the Way of the Cross carved on wood.

The church is almost always crowded with devotees from the city offering prayers to the patron Saint and often visited by people from nearby towns and cities.

The basilica is known for its well- built structure and exceptional murals on the ceilings and walls depicting different scenes from the bible.
