One famous miracle by Padre Pio was the blind young girl, born without pupil in her eyes, whom he healed to see again by blessing her with the Sign of the Cross. Considering the accounts of healing miracles associated to the patron saint, Fr. Jojo Gonda celebrates a healing mass every 23rd day of the month at 9AM.
The church fortunately is located just 10 minutes away from the public market, making it easier to find.

From a small chapel, St. Padre Pio Church has grown into a shrine with the altar bearing a huge crucifix and a painting of San Pedro by Jun Torres.  This Holy Week more devotees are expected to visit the shrine to reflect and pray the Stations of the Cross, a  Lenten reflection on the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Last September 23, 2013, about 10,000 faithfuls and devotees flocked in the Parish and Shrine in San Pedro, Sto. Tomas Batangas for the feast of the Franciscan stigmatist, Padre Pio.

Padre Pio was born in Italy in 1887 and adopted the name Pio when he became Capuchin priest after Pope Pious V, the patron saint of Pietrelcino- his home city. Padre Pio, being the patron saint of the church was world famous for carrying the stigmata or wounds of Jesus Christ in the crucifixion and the
miracles attributed to him.

HOW TO GET TO PADRE PIO SHRINE:

If you are coming from Lipa City, and nearby localities, you have several options:

a. via Marawoy, Lipa City : turn right going to Fiesta Mall, pass by Dagatan, then Lumbang going to Sto. Tomas. After crossing the bridge, turn left, and this road will lead you to the shrine. As far as i can recall you will pass by several barangays  ( San Francisco, San Isidro, etc. ) until you reach barangay San Pedro (where the shrine is located).

b. via Tanauan : you have to turn right entering a private subdivision (Blue Ridge entry across Waltermart ). The first time we went to the Shrine  we took this road, but in my opinion its too complicated as there are so many lefts and rights and we had to ask a lot of people before we reach the shrine.

c. via Sto. Tomas proper: if you  would like to avoid barangay roads (generally narrow), you may want to take national (city) road.

Some suggested ways on how to get to Padre Pio Shrine in Sto. Tomas Batangas compiled from comments and posts at batangashub and around the net:

1.      If you have private cars coming from Manila, take the South Super Highway and proceed via SCTEX. Take the Lipa-Talisay exit and proceed turning right. You will be guided by roadsigns.

2.      If you are coming from Cubao area or LRT-Gil Puyat station, board a bus heading to Lucena City, Quezon. Tell the conductor to stop the bus at the corner of Barangay San Pedro in Sto. Tomas Batangas where there is a small road going to the shrine of Padre Pio. At this corner, tricycles are available on the left side near the 7-Eleven Store. Note:  Minimum fare would be around 10 pesos each passenger.

3. Comment from Lolit  at batangashub :

We just got from St. Padre Pio Shrine yesterday. We were able to reach there via national road going to San Pablo. From Star Toll, exit Sto. Tomas, ask Brgy. San Pedro, a small Chapel of St. Padre Pio is located on the leftside of the national road, turn right to the street before the chapel, just go straight and you will find the Shrine. It was an amazing experience experience to visit and meditate there during this lenten season

4. If you are coming from Tagaytay, comment from Kris at batangashub:

Sakay ka ng van from Tagaytay going to Calamba terminals. Ride a jeepney via Tanzanian and tell the driver to drop you off at Padre Pio Shrine.
