A plan to construct a 14-kilometer long bridge was presented to Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto and Oriental Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali Jr. With an estimated cost of Php 18 billion, it would take about five years to complete the SuperBridge project.

We've heard about this proposal since 2013 and earlier this year San Miguel Corporation (SMC) again expressed interest in building this project. If pursued the bridge would be the first floating bridge in Asia, with a total length of  15 kilometers with pedestrian and bicycle lanes and could withstand cyclones of up to 350 kph winds.

The SuperBridge is proposed to begin in Barangay Ilijan in Batangas City and make a 6.4-kilometer span across Verde Island. The next connection will start from the Verde Island going to a barangay in Sinandigan in Pueto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.

After receiving simultaneous chair-spins from Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton, Katriz Trinidad, a Filipino-American teenager whose family hails from Lipa City, Batangas chose Team Pharrell.

In an effort to persuade Katriz to join his team, Pharrell said "I never thought that I would find something that I'd usually look for my own label; that I'd been dreaming for an artist like you all my career”. During her performance, he stood up while she was singing then dropped his knees, and even wrote the word “Please” on a notebook.

According to Shelton, “All of us, in the back of our minds, keep the hope alive that somehow we’ll find someone who is just born to be a star,” And he thinks Katriz could be that person. Blown away by Katriz’s performance Gwen Stefani on the otherhand said “I feel like you’re almost like a perfect singer”

Thinking that he truly believed in her, as she saw it in his eyes, in the end, Katriz went with her gut feeling and chose Team Pharell. According to Katriz’s social media post she has “the awesomest moment of her life and she’s thankful and blessed”

Katriz wowed coaches with her rendition of Etta James’ song “At Last.”

You may call it a film festival but they would always like to call it a “Get- Together”.  The Sky is Everywhere (Shortfilms About Anything Under the Sky ) is an event to promote friendship and showcase films and filmmakers from the province of Batangas. It is not a film competition. It is but a one-night event to share ideas and celebrate stories told through shortfilms. The Sky Is Everywhere Film Get-Together takes place each July in the small but lovely quaint town of Lipa City, Batangas.
With this year’s theme “The Sky Is Everywhere 3 : The Memory Is Fleeting”, the film get-together is again welcoming the challenge of showcasing the best films from the local filmmakers in the province and to provide a new and better experience of watching it.

Batangas Dancers: D’ Intensity Breakers For the Win

5/24/2013

It has been a long tough run for D' Intensity Breakers, a group of young high-spirited dancers from Lipa City, before they got to where they are right now- the Pilipinas Got Talent Semi Finals.

D' intensity Breakers was formed and bound by love for dancing. And for them, it is a way of not just expressing themselves but a way as well to earn a little for their families. One of them, Christopher Rafol called by his co-members as “Daga” works as barker when not in practice;

Jeffrey Matanguihan or “Jepoy” is married and works as balot vendor while the others, and most of them, are students. They did find dancing as a hobby and a job. That is why back home in Lipa, the group has been every dance contest's face. Be it barangay dance contest or big competition in malls. But game has it, sometimes it's, you lose or you win. After every triumph and defeats, they would still gather at Lipa City Community Park in the afternoons to practice for the next battle.

This spirit and faith in the group sent them to audition in Pilipinas Got Talent Season 1held in Batangas in 2009. Unfortunately, they did not make it on the screening. But after almost four years, with nearly empty pockets, the group came back to the show with a stunning performance that wowed judges Kris Aquino, Ai Ai Delas Alas and FMG. So just after some couple of weeks, the group came back again for the Quarter Finals and still, without fail, amazed the judges and the crowd with their hoola hoop stunts and dancing routines. Yes, they do.
They performed astounding and breath taking stunts using hoola hoops which became their trade mark in the show. As Kris Aquino remarked on their first audition, they felt like they have seen a lot like that (the break dancing), but the group's was entirely different for they incorporated stunts to their routines. The group continues to struggle for a common goal – to win. And this coming May 25, Saturday, they would be again, trying to take a spot in the Semi Finals to qualify for PGT Season 4 Grand Finals. Sure, Lipenos have another fellows to be proud of.
